Description

Jean Shrimpton was big back in the 60's as one of the top models of the time.

This was presented to me as a project for art class some time back. It took about five hours, I think.

Hope you like it and comment!

Isn't it a problem with her left eye ? Very well done though ^^

Brilliant stuff. *stares* Definately a brilliant piece. :) I absolutely love the hair and the neck; a guy like me could learn a lot from your style. Kampai!

"Impressive work"? The left eye inexplicably floats about two inches in front of the face at an angle. There's no other way for it to look this way under this prespective. Left eyebrow is twice wider than the right! This is smoothly rendered but completely falling apart. Back to drawing board; this is past salvaging most likely but you might do better next time - just pay attention to the general construction of the face, before you try to add detail.

P.S. I loaded it in Photoshop later on and analyzed it with guidelines, which discovered more bloopers. The neck is too thin. The nose is incorrectly placed in relation to the lips and is in wrong perspective and incorrectly sculpted. The ear is again at yet another angle than the rest, and the earlobe is really weird. The hairline on the left is too close, she must have a really flat skull to have it like that; and on the left the temple looks caved in. One eye is bigger than the other. The overall "construction" is just face parts in different perspective slapped all together. Sorry. Again, work with construction guidelines and try not to copy photos.

Well, she is a beautiful one! You've done a brilliant job capturing her expression. I do agree with the eye... it's just a tad off, which is probably affecting other areas that arenhaus is commenting about. But I like her neck and ear! and I don't think the over all construction is messed up! What a gift you have m'dear! I'm excited to see what you deliver for us next!

Yes, the eye is messed up, and it's a big issue for me. The neck is a bit thin, and some of the proportions are off. But this was a class assignment done with no guidelines. Only the paper, the photo, and my pencils.

Her earlobe is really that way, and the eybrow only seems thicker because of the lighting. Just search on Google for Jean Shrimpton, and you'll find this image.

Oh wow. The shading style in this peice is really great, I had to pause and check that this wasn't a photo for a minute. Fantastic!

There is a little uneveness in the eyes though. But at any rate, it's very very nice!
